Chime is a brand new online banking company. Most people like it because it allows you to transfer money between accounts for zero fees. This makes it fun to send and receive money when you go out for lunch or to sell something to a friend. However, it is not for everyone. Unfortunately, the process of deleting your Chime account is not as close as it should be. That’s why we’ve included a guide on how to delete your Chime account.
How to delete your Chime account:
Unlink all your Accounts in Chime
This may seem like an overdose, but we would highly recommend that you unlink every other account in your Chime bank account before deleting it. You may have cards associated with the account, but you will probably have other banks connected to it. The only reason we suggest you link them all is to avoid any unnecessary suffering when it comes to risk financing.
If you want to ensure a smooth removal, you will also need to transfer all funds to your Chime account. You can send this to your Paypal account or your Cash App account.
With all accounts and cards previously linked to your Chime bank account now disconnected, it’s time to request that the account be deleted.
Email Chime
The only way to delete Chime’s bank account is to ask for it to be deleted. You can do this in two ways, but we would recommend that you do both in good measure.
The first thing you need to do is send an email to Chime itself. The email address is support@chime.com. It may help to make the email subject clearer. We suggest, “Request to Delete My Account.” This is short and up to standard. It also looks great unless the email is open, so anyone at Chime who wants quick questions to get started will pick up your email right away.
Train Customer Support Team
At this point, most people just sit and wait. The thing is you don’t know what’s going on with your account yet. That’s why we suggest that a day or more after you send an email to Chime, call them.
Make sure you have helpful reference numbers emailed to you so you can identify them as requested. Start by asking your account status and move on to how long it will take before it is deleted.
If a few more days go by without action, then call Chime again and come to the end of why it takes so long. You can also send another email with all the relevant details provided to you about the removal of your account, and dismiss the same group by email.
It is advisable to have the account deleted as soon as possible after requesting deletion. If the account stays idle for a long time, most of the time when things go wrong. By chasing the customer support team in many ways, you put a better chance of the senior manager seeing your application and finding a case if it takes too long.
